Home Assistant Community Add-on: UniFi Controller

How do you users of this addon safeguard the backups that are being made in the /backup/unifi folder? I would like to save them at another location in case I want to nuke the HA installation.

TIA

Has anyone gotten unifi to work with HA in 2024???

Constantly get Invalid Authentication…

Meanwhile I can ssh into via terminal, login via my home domain url, login via ip…just HA can’t seem to do it. Should I log a bug?

You need to set up a local admin for HA. Then it works perfectly. I’m pretty sure that’s stated further up this thread.

Also make sure this setting is OFF

Hey, thanks for this addon!

Is there a way how not having to use https for this?

Hi. thanks for the excellent add-in.
i installed it in a couple of RPi HASSIO and while it works ok in one of them, on the other one it keeps stopping the HASSIO and rebooting the Rpi every 1 hour or so.
I have installed the 3.3.0 version with
HASSIO 13,
HA Core 2024.10 and
HA Supervisor 2024.09.1
on RPi 4-64 with 2GB RAM

I would say 2GB RAM isn’t enough and you are running out of memory. You can limit the amount of RAM it uses but I think you will still struggle with 2GB.

In configuration for the add-on you can set the following :

I did the changes but still have the problem. I also have a tplink deco in the network that is crashing. Do you think that this might cause the issues?
On the network that work ok i only have unifi products.

I have installed the AddOn in Home Assistant and all runs ok, it opens correctly in the browser, but I can’t get it to adopt the UniFi Lite Access Point. How can I adopt it so I can configure the entire WiFi network from the Home Assistant console?

Did you closely follow all the instructions, including the inform host update? That is normally one of the reasons why adoption is not happening.

Where can I see the detailed instructions? I believe I have followed them.

You can find that here: addon-unifi/unifi/DOCS.md at 088c9665ac2ba5a53dfd596182e3937632c2441c · hassio-addons/addon-unifi · GitHub

I can not add UAP-AC and UAP-AC outdoor. But I have (quite some time ago, maybe with older version) successfully added old UAP-LR in UAP-PRO. Any ideas? Does Unifi controller version 8 does not support adding older devices anymore?

Hello Franck Nijhof, your addon is very good. I have a few questions, I would just like to know how it will work with the implementation of 2-step authentication implemented by Ubiquit.

Hi Frank,

Is there any option to use the SSL certificate from Home assistant on the Unifi Controller UI port (8443)

Thanks in advance!

I hope someone has an idea, i am first of all no expert in linux , most cases i manage to get it but here i just don’t .
My dad has the older Unif accespoints which are EOL , these work with unifi controller software 6.0.4.5 which runs on a raspberry.

I like to remove the raspberry and run the unifi controller on the HA server, i used addon to install the controller then i tried to set a backup from the 6.0.4.5 version back to the latest version which runs on the HA server.

i can see the ap’s in a list , but they won’t connect.
Tried the forget option in the unifi controller version 6.0.4.5 , they are gone, then i can see the Adoption option but once started adoption they stay in adopting mode and do not work, cant be added.

Then i thought , ill acces the HA server trough ssh and run this script which i found after the installation of the unifi addons option : https://get.glennr.nl/unifi/install/unifi-6.0.45.sh

tried to run this in putty but it doesnt install .
What i was trying is the older unifi controller that i know works with my EOL accespoints.

Or is there another solution that can work ?

Any body that can make any sense of my story , help or tips would be highly appreciated

thanks

Typically when this happens, people forget to update the updated inform host option. Did you enter the right host? There must be several topics on this in the forum as I have seen many of these.

i have never ever had this before, i think ive installed about 20 or more of these ap’s this is new for me but i will google for it, thanks for the tip, hopefully i get this solved.
Thanks René
