I had the same problem with my amazfit smart watch. I use the app “notify & fitness” and is really gr8!!!
It gives you the option to filter messages that you don’t want to appear in your watch. If you plan to have mi band for a long time I totally recommend the app! What I am not sure is it it shows you to filter on the free app. You need to check.

yes these are all Notification Channels which is a feature of Android. You can also use them when you send notifications to the app too. They allow you to customize a notification so you can set whether it makes a sound, pops up etc…
