Honeywell Lyric integration aborts setup when trying to install the integration

The problem:
I am trying to setup a new integration for my instance of HA (Honeywell Lyric). As soon as I click on the integration to install, I am greeted with “The component is not configured. Please follow the documentation.” I am not given a chance to enter a user name/password/consumer key/consumer secret from the Honeywell developer site. I have tried rebooting HA, still happens.

Honeywell Lyric Thermostat

As I mentioned above, did you use HACS for the install? This is how I started with it. HACS makes your Home Assistant life easier. Install that first, then use the custom repo option to add the URL for jasondefuria’s GitHub (above).

Well thats all very well and good for people using HACS, but what about for those of us (like the OP) who are using HAOS?

Your pointer is not helpful unless running HACS which we are not.

I now recommend using homekit for honeywell wifi thermostats. It remains on-line more consistently.

Homekit Controller is the add-on.
