[SOLVED] How do I edit configuration.yaml when I can't even find the File editor?

I am a total newbie so thank you for your patience.
I have installed Home Assistant (HassOS 4.15) on a Pi 4 and have created an automation which mostly works as expected.

I would like to see my configuration.yaml file.

According to this page:
https://www.home-assistant.io/getting-started/configuration/
I will find the ‘File editor’ add-on under “Official add-ons”.

However, when I go to the Add-on store there is no File Editor.
Similarly, Samba is not in the ‘Core’ section of the Add-on store.
In fact there is no ‘Core’ section - just ‘Home Assistant Community Add-ons’.

I’m obviously missing something but what am I doing wrong?
How do I find (or edit) the configuration.yaml file?

I have looked in the Configuration and Installation categories of the forum and not found the answer.

Thanks
Rix

It’s not in the community addons it’s a core addon down lower. Did you type it into the search bar?

Thank you for your prompt response.
Yes, I have searched for it (see image) …I should have said that…
There is nothing if I look further down, the page ends (see other image).

Looks like you don’t have the official addon store?

I followed (very carefully) the instructions at
https://www.home-assistant.io/getting-started/
so I have no idea what was (or wasn’t) installed or how any errors may have occurred.

How can I get the official add-on store?

FWIW I’m complete noob with Home Assistant, I just installed it on pi three days ago. I don’t recall doing anything special to get the official add-on store. I’m using 32-bit build for Pi 4 Model B. I’m using a 128GB MicroSD card

I did wander around for a little bit so I may have accidentally turned on.

At any rate I have the File Editor so I don’t know if it is positive consolation that is possible or it just adds to your frustration that you don’t have it.

I’m wondering… it IS installed by default but maybe you have to enable advanced mode to see it?

I don’t think you need advanced mode to see it. I missed the advanced mode setting initially. I edited my configuration.yaml file and I couldn’t find the button for “check config” which is enabled by advanced mode.

The check config button is in the settings page above the restart server bit

Thank you all for your replies.
Advanced mode was already set.
@digidude where is the “settings page”?

This morning I was offered an update to 0.117.0 which I took.
I then looked in the Supervior log and it is full of errors - many of which relate to the Add-ons - as follows:

@RixUK click configuration, then server control. at the top youll see a button that says check configuration, this caught a typo for me before i restarted, and below this is the restart server option

Im a newbie to this myself, i only installed it on friday, and didnt really start playing with it untill after the weekend

@digidude Found it (ie. the restart button), thanks. The Official Add-ons are still missing. I have now upgraded to 0.117.1 and they still aren’t there.

If no-one here can help where am I likely to find someone who knows what is wrong?

On discord in the #homeassistant_os channel is your best bet, your local git directory for the official add-ons are corrupt, getting that back require a more direct dialog then what a forum has to offer

Thanks. I’m there now. Wish me luck…

Good luck!

Thanks to @ludeeus and other Jedis on Discord, I can now see the Official Add-ons.
Something must have got corrupted during the HA Installation.

What was the solution ? I’ve been encountering the same issue, would be grateful for your insight

I cannot tell you the solution as it is too complex (for me) but the way to find it is to follow the link to Discord provided by @Ludeeus above.
You will need to create an account and then post your request in the Home Assistant channel.
Clever people might then appear and help you.

If you search my username in Discord you might find the conversation I had with them but I would advise against following the same procedure in case there is something different in your setup.

Good luck

I conot find file editor when i use homeassistant 9.4,but i update to homeassistant 9.5 ,I find it int store.
so i think thta is version error.
