Hello, how do I edit/remove an area. I seem to have duplicate entries…

Thanks for your help…

Hey, you can go to:
Configuration --> Areas

Then choose the according area, hit the cog in the upper right corner and then click delete in the popup.

Select settings - entities. Click on the entity you want to edit. At the bottom of the preview is the item advanced settings. Edit the area there.

I feel foolish, it was so obvious and asking for assistance it always a last resort.
I love this community as so many people are willing to help
I Thank you so much…

I have an area named “Front Yard” containing no devices, no automations, no scenes, and no scripts. The popup you refer to does not permit me to DELETE. Stumped???

Hey Joe
What happens when you hit delete? Or is it greyed out and not clickable?

Did you check whether there is an entity assigned to the area (these are not visible on the area page)? Even though I just successfully deleted an area containing an entity, it might still be worth a try?

It could also be that the area was generated by an integration… When I had to re-add my sonos, it created an area with its name (but it was removable) - maybe something similar happened here?

My query was on day 4 of my journey into the world of Home Assistant. 4 days later I have learned and accomplished a lot, and this time I went into Configuration > Areas and was able to open the area in question3 and see the Delete button when I clicked on the Gear Icon. Gone without any fuss…

Thanks for your reply
