Oh my goodness! It’s right in front of my eyes! Well, how do I bring an entry back? I clicked one too many!
Thanks for your help.
The same way.
The ones you can add back will be at the bottom of the list with a +
next to them instead of an X
.
Tom, thanks again! It is right in my face. I’m embarrassed… Have a good night.
Note that after a screen/cache refresh these will re-appear. I understand that there is a custom/hacs solution that is more stable (not using that myself)
That’s not entirely true.
Clearing your cache will have no effect. Clearing your browser cookies will.
Thus as it is stored in a cookie and not Home Assistant, you will have to do this for every device.
Be careful which third party plug-in you use. This third party solution is no longer maintained (the developer passed away): https://github.com/Villhellm/custom-sidebar
This one is currently active: https://github.com/galloween/custom-sidebar-v2
This will have the advantage of setting the hidden/shown and order of items across all browsers.
Thanks…yes…clear cache has no effect indeed
Currently using the custom-sidebar-v2. It helps a bit but it just hides them. If I refresh the page it briefly shows all the options in the side bar. If I do Ctrl + f5 it clears my custom side bar until I clear cache to have it back to where I want it. Do you have any suggestions to make it show my custom side bar faster? instead of that delay as well as the Ctrl + f5 issue? Or is there a better way to remove these options in general? (I don’t plan on having any of my users use the electric, map, etc)
No, I gave V2 a go after recommending it and found it to be quite buggy. Especially on iOS.
I see, well I tried removing those options in the frontend-development repo of file ha-sidebar.ts but its still appearing. Are you familiar with this do you have suggestions on hiding them completely? What I was trying to do since we can just “hide” them per browser I should be able to hide them indefinite for all browsers? If not can you point me somewhere that may help. Thank you!
You know, this type of user customization on the sidebar should be kept in the haos config. NOT per browser - so wherever you open HA, be it from a PC browser, IOS App, Android App, etc., it will show the same sidebar. Period. IMHO.
I don’t disagree but I believe the thinking is that customisations are made per display device due to people wanting different layouts for different sized screens.
I, for one, believe that a user preference (or customization), should be preserved no matter which device he uses. Customization should only be done one time not so many times as to the number of devices the user has.
I agree.
Perhaps an entry for the month of WTH?
Whenever I re-open the browser, the removed Icons reapears
Change your browser settings. It is probably set to clear history on close.
