I’m having trouble with my Zigbee network/devices, and I don’t know why…
My network consists of about 40 devices, 3/4 of which are routers. My coordinator (ConBee II) is in the center of my flat (kitchen), and everything worked flawlessly for the last few months. Over the weekend, we finally got the time to install our ceiling lights in the kitchen and the room next to it. The kitchen light consists of 7 AwoX TLSR82xx (Connect 2) lamps, and the hallway light has 4 Hue GU10 bulbs.
Since the installation, my Aqara motion sensor and my Hue stripe in the bathroom don’t work anymore. By “don’t work,” I mean they stop responding and disconnect within a few minutes to an hour after re-pairing. Interestingly, when cutting power to the new hallway and kitchen lights, they stay connected and responsive. I’ve also noticed that a few other lights in my home become unresponsive from time to time.
To troubleshoot, I first isolated the issue to the new lights. I provided power to the hallway and not the kitchen—everything worked fine. Then, I powered on the kitchen without the hallway, and the issue persisted. So, I can confidently say that these 7 new lights are the problem. I configured them as a Zigbee group in ZHA, and 70% of the time, the lights work flawlessly. Sometimes only 4 or 5 of the 7 lamps turn on or off.
Since these lights are within 3 meters of the coordinator, and many Zigbee devices at the edges of our home are still functioning, I’m uncertain about the cause of the issue. What do you think should be the next step in my troubleshooting journey?
I had the misfortune to install 3 awox light panels yesterday and they made a right mess of the zigbee connectivity around where they were located. Previously reliable devices became unavailable or had very poor response times, almost exactly as you described.
Even doing a ‘map’ started to throw up loads of LQI errors for a network that before had been perfect.
I installed the ‘awox homecontrol’ app and let it install firmware updates, totally effortless and fixed the problem without having to re-pair or reset anything. Never even left my chair during the whole process.
Apparently awox have a bit of a reputation for trashing zigbee networks with older firmware.
Thanks you so much! We were at wit’s end with a network that previously worked great but lately was barely functional. It turned out to be the three new EGLO (AwoX) light fixtures, like your panels.
Installed their HomeControl app, registered an account and it directly identified the lights and offered firmware updates for each of them when I configured them (you don’t even have to unpair them indeed, like you say). After the updates all buttons instantly reacted again, lights working a lot better.
