FYI, someone ZHA quirk developers has started working on custom ZHA Device Handlers (zha quirks as customunized device translators) to enable using these newer IKEA devices like the new Bilresa product with Home Assistant’s built-in Zigbee integration (a.k.a HA’s native ZHA integration), see here:
And related zigpy development discussion here which confirmed that IKEA’s new Kajplats product is also a true Zigbee device too:
So it sounds as if some but not all of IKEA’s devices have dual-protocol support and you can therefore choose to set many of them up as Zigbee devices instead of Matter devices if you want (however they will then need custom device handlers/converters to deal with specific quirks).
Quote:
”Just press the button 8 times. You don’t need to press 4 times first. The rule for new Ikea Matter devices, if you want to use them in Zigbee, is that you do 2 times more than for regular Zigbee devices. Examples:”
- Zigbee bulb (Tradfri) you do 6 cycles (12 clicks) to add to Zigbee. For Matter bulb (Kajplats) you do 12 cycles (24 clicks) to add to Zigbee.
- Zigbee button (Rodret) you press button 4 times to add to Zigbee. For Matter button (Bilresa) you press button 8 times to add to Zigbee.
By the way, I understand that Zigbee binding is not supported either in the current firmware of these new devices, but that is not confirmed?
