I was just scrolling through as I was trying to set up my Vindstryka I bought yesterday as they had just the one sat on the shelf in IKEA Nottingham ! I thought I’d messed up and needed a hub but hit the smaller button x4 in desperation and there it was, found and ready to use. Awesome TYVM
Interesting find! In my country it’s only €40 including tax, so that seems like a really good price if it’s any good.
On that note, I’m just wondering how often does it update the entity?
Currently I have similar sensors from Shelly, and they do a push update via websockets, and you can set how often and after how much change in temp/humidity they do this. They have a built-in web UI do set these parameters, but obviously a zigbee device won’t have that.
Also, just checking because it doesn’t seem listed at the IKEA website: the screen is LCD, right? Asking because the aforementioned Shelly device I have, uses an e-paper display, which is just beautiful.
Anyone managed to update the firmware on it? I have firmware version 1.0.010 according to Z2M. Trying to upgrade with OTA, it seems to start with “Remaining time N/A”, then times out after a minute or two. Tried pressing the buttons on it to “wake it up”, but doesn`t help.
Did you update through ZHA or Z2M? (according to ZHA, mine says that 01000010 is the latest firmware however Z2M says there is a newer one)
I’m using ZHA. I updated one unit via the device view (update available), and the others I have using the standard settings>update menu.
I also have this in my configuration.yaml file…
Worked. I am updating as I write this to 11. Thanks!
I’m here because I have put up with exactly this for too long.
I have 2 of these, I updated one as you have and it reboots randomly and the reading are all over the show - I don’t trust it.
The other one is more stable.
Did you resolve it???
Thanks for this…. So many moving parts! I’ll update my config file!
I couldn’t find it but is the IKEA VINDSTYRKA Zigbee Air quality sensor an Enddevice of router?
It shows up up as a Router for me in ZHA.
Shows up as router in Z2M as well, it should be router as it is always on external power.
sorry for the late reply.no i didnt resolve it. i ended up returning it to ikea as faulty and buying a fresh one.
Hi all, recently integrated a VINDSTYRKA to my HA, currently via ZHA. I am considering switching to Z2M at some point before my collection expands much further, if that makes any difference.
It all works as expected, but I was curious if there is a way to control the backlight via HA.
It doesn’t seem to be exposed in the integration/entity, so I am guessing not
I would like to automate the backlight, so that it turns off when sleeping/away, and turns on during during evening occupancy time periods, dims while watching tv, etc.
Hi all! Long time reader, first time poster …
I have the Dirigera hub for Zigbee control, connected to HA via Matter integration …
Unlike what the previous posts seem to indicate, I get single decimal place accuracy on temp and humidity… i also get PM2.5, and an Air Quality indicator.
Anyone know if “Air Quality” is some sum of all the sensors, or is it a possible representation of of the VOC ?
On my graphs, I seem to have a very smooth update every 5 minutes, I don’t know if that’s just the resolution of the graphs, or if it updates more regularly than that or not.
I do have a Zigbee/Z-Wave dongle, but i’ve got all the rest of the Zigbee stuff attached to Dirigera so Alexa can see it… this seems much less useful to connect to Alexa, so maybe i’ll just hook it up to that dongle as a second zigbee network to get the remaining features…
now to figure out what settings i need for automations to clear the air
Is all this work in vain?
They say PM 0.3 and PM 0.1 are now the minimum standards to be following as the air quality EPA and FDA and whoever are now shifting from from their prior 1990’s, 2009 standards. With so much push back from industry to be more accepting of pollution, they’ve been under so much pressure to accept all the adverse health affects of TVOCs, heavy metals, etc etc et al in the environment.
So should we not be putting out efforts into something that has at LEAST PM 0.3?
I’ve been looking at MT15 (not MT29)

I don’t really care about the hygrometer features (temperature or humidity) accuracy, as for me it is about air quality.
Would it be hard to get this integrated into HA ZHA MQTT?? Or does a Zigbee version exist bypassing use of Tuya Zigbee Gateway (Tuya can connect to instead of direct to app).

Note / FYI: MT15 uses Infrared and Laser sensors for detecting particles and gases in the air. The MT29 uses Infrared and Semiconductor sensors (less accurate) instead,
Tuya devices have proven to be consistently unreliable. I’m unsure about the reliability of the IKEA device, but I would avoid using Tuya products for anything even slightly critical, such as air quality monitoring.
I have the same problem. Did you manage to fix it? Or is the device broken?
