Integration with APC SmartConnect UPS

Team,
I’d like to read the info from my UPS… it is a APC with SmartConnect… I can see the data from the SmartConnect service online but not sure if/how I can read from HomeAssistant.
Was anyone able to connect it ?

If you are running Home Assistant OS, install the NUT (Network UPS Tools) addon from the Community Add-ons repository. Set it up to talk to your UPS.

Then install the NUT integration. This communicates with the addon to obtain things like SOC and % Load.

If you are not running Home Assistant OS, you will need to install NUT somewhere and set it up to communicate with your UPS. Then install the Integration.

You probably need to use the apcsmart driver in the NUT addon setup.

You can check for compatible drivers for your model UPS here:

thank you Tom, good suggestion but my UPS is connected to the cloud via ethernet not to a PC via USB or similar. If I understood correctly from the NUT Site the deamon should run on an instance connected via USB or similar

What’s the model number?

This is the generic Ethernet connected driver I think:

this one: SMC1000IC

Looks like the SMC models only have support for the usb driver.

Hi there, I was thinking on buying a new UPS and I was looking at the SMC1500IC (basically same model as yours, just more VA) and I wanted to ask if you managed to get it connected and as @tom_l mentioned, the only model supported seems to be SMC2200BI-BR via USB.

I would, assumiling like you, prefer way more to use the LAN port to get the data rather than having to plugi it via USB to something :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks

I’m looking for this as well. In my search, I found this thread as well as a reddit post that gave me some hope that perhaps an integration can be written somehow.

That’s interesting, so future might bring good things once this is used more and more

I’ve just bought an APC SMT750IC with ethernet SmartConnect port.

Has there been any further updates which might help support ethernet based monitoring? I assume not and that I will need to use the legacy USB connection.

I am able to get a little more data from my APC smart UPS 750 using SNMP mode instead of usbhid-ups.

Info from here:

Using devices config:

  - name: ups
    driver: snmp-ups
    port: 192.168.1.???
    config: []

I can get the following stats:
