Integration with firewalla

None unfortunately. I went ahead and bought one (a red as I don’t need the bandwidth) though the blue seems to have a web-based management as well as the app. Easy to set up, though rules are by device, so cannot (that I have found) see or manage them all as one list & have to manage them through smartphone app - however for $120 inc shipping cannot complain… works well in simple mode (ARP spoofing or something like that) - allowed me to block / manage more than I could with HASS. Have it running with the HASS DHCP server, adguard, appdaemon + a few others, with some custom-flashed Sonos and a few ESP devices for watering sensors and valve switchs and everything still seems to work fine.

I finished putting together a custom component for Firewalla. It can enable/disable policies and show their state in Home Assistant. They are integrated as switches. If you are interested check it out and let me know if you have any issues.

will give this a go

Hey itsjeremy,

I have the firewalla gold, and love it. I have a quick question… can you see MAC addresses connected to the firewalla device? I would like to use it as presence detection to determine if any users are home. I don’t really want to use IP addresses, if I can get around it.

Keen to know how folk are getting on with Firewalla and Hass on the same network, plus if there’s any outstanding needs with integration of the two. I’ve been eyeing up a Firewalla Blue/Plus for a while and am fighting the early adopter in me

Is anyone using this? I’d love to display my network throughput on my dashboard. I’m running the new Firewalla Purple in router mode, which is an upgrade to the most excellent Blue that I used for a couple of years.

Just bough a gold and thought id look, I know afterward, if it had an integration. Glad to the this community hasnt let me down again. The more i can do inside HA the better. Thanks for writing it, I hope you have the desire to keep it up to date and maintained. So many goof integrations die that way.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice on how to set the DNS up when you have both Firewalla and Adguard home running on home assistant.

Currently I have the DNS on my main router pointing to firewalla, then both my Primary and overlay networks DNS on Firewalla point to my Home assistant IP (for Adguard filtering), then Adguard uses https://dns10.quad9.net/dns-query (which is the default service in Adguard)

Is this correct? It does seem to work and I believe ensures that both monitored and unmonitored devices in Firewalla benefit from Adguard filtering.

It just seems to be a lot of steps for DNS resolution. Is there a better way?

I have got here through trial & error, I am not any kind of networking expert.

Firewalla API in early test

Wondering if anyone with coding experience wants to have a a go at integration with Firewalla now they are about to release their API?

—-
I do remember a few of you here were interested in Firewalla API’s. And if you are still interested, we have an early access version. The API’s are based on the Firewalla MSP (which is also early access).

We are looking for a few power users to play with the API’s and give us feedback!

To join, please fill out this form https://forms.gle/mF4LYu849YBZbGtL9
And then send [email protected] an email and make sure you include the email you registered the MSP instance with and the subject Firewalla API test.

You can learn a bit more about API’s here https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/5345330648083-MSP-API-Getting-Started- (the article is a draft … expect changes)

I know I’d be very interested in what can be brought into Home Assistant with this.

Hello,

Thought of trying this and I get configuration invalid when I paste below config in my configuartion.yaml

switch:

  • platform: firewalla
    name: Clever name
    policy:
    host:

error: Platform error switch.firewalla - Integration ‘firewalla’ not found.

Followed all the given instructions yet the error is still there.

Anyone have tried this in current times?

Appreciate any suggestion.
Thanks.

Regards

Would it be possible to extend it with a sensor for the Firewalla notifications (such as Alarms or Firewalla down)?

Any update on the Firewalla integration? Have a G+ and would love to dashboard it.

Just got an email on their MSP, which includes API access as of the Professional level (95 USD/y though…) Guess that’s the starting point if we want to do proper integration?

Hmm I hope they do a cheaper plan for say max 2 Firewalla’s. I’d cough up $50/yr for that.

Has anyone figured out how to get bandwidth monitoring from Firewalla into HA? I was able to integrate some sensors using SNMP (cpu usage and memory) but I don’t know the OID strings for Upload and Download bandwidth.

UPDATE: You can get real-time bandwidth using SNMP from this thread here: SNMP bandwidth monitor using statistics - #82 by jtenniswood

Is anyone working on the MSP API and a HA integration?

Would love to see a working integration with home assistant where you can turn on and off policies.
it would be great to be able to control policies from within the HA dashboard.

Firewalla has a full MSP API reference doc:

I just got HA Green so I can move everything local with Web Links. I also got Firewalla Gold. I love Firewalla but now I need to adjust my HA setup properly. I do not have much blocked yet but auto config is hammering HA.
