Currently, the template sensors in UI do not accept the unit ‘g/m³’ as valid unit in case we apply the device class ‘humidity’
According to the entry about Humidity in Wikipedia there are 3 types of measurements of humidity that are widely employed:
- Absolute humidity is expressed as either mass of water vapor per volume of moist air (in grams per cubic meter) or as mass of water vapor per mass of dry air (usually in grams per kilogram).
- Relative humidity , often expressed as a percentage, indicates a present state of absolute humidity relative to a maximum humidity given the same temperature.
- Specific humidity is the ratio of water vapor mass to total moist air parcel mass.
I wish to request the introduction of at least unit for absolute humidity in g/m³
The advantage is that it permits to evaluate at a glance, if a room should be aired compared to the outdoor absolute humidity, i.e. if indoor abs.humidity is higher than outdoor abs.humidity, despite the indoor having only 60% relative humidity vs. 90% relative humidtiy outdoors.
Example where the room should definitely be aired
Indoor (25°C) 60% equals 13.8 g/m³
Outdoor (10°C) 90% equals 8.5 g/m³
