Is groups.yaml still needed?

I upgraded to 86.1 today and activated lovelace yaml in the config file. Since it’s now using the ui-lovelace.yaml file, do I still need to keep using groups.yaml?

Thanks!

depends on what you use groups for… if it was just stuff for displaying the front end then no.

I gutted my groups card and now it only has 2 groups. One has all my scenes in it (so I can display them by specifying a group on a custom card). The other one has 3 automations that I turn on/off with an input_boolean switch - it just makes it easy to group them.

Same with customize - I gutted that and removed a bunch of crap I previously had set entities to hidden so I didn’t get 100 icons at the top. I kept customizations that set friendly names or icons but if they only set the hidden to true or false they are gone.

Is there explanation somewhere how to use and configure lovelace? How to use groups, customize, etc…

Click the 3 dots in the top right of your panel and hit Configure UI

I did not upgrade yet. I worry that it will break everything that I configured.
