Using 0.80.0, same happened here, kodi states stopped being picked up - I don’t have a login/pwd setup for kodi, after trying a few things - rebooting both kodi and HASS, i commented out the friendly name for my kodi and restarted hass. That worked. Seemed to stop recognising the “friendly name” in the automations
Any chance this is a problem when using Kodi 18?
Updated HA to the latest version, still the same problem.
I am on Kodi 17.6 and experiencing the issue. So I don’t think it is related to 18.
Dammit. My kodi box has stopped updating it’s state in HA again.

For shits and giggles I just tried to send a TTS message to it. As soon as I started typing the player updated it’s status. O_o
It’s still not working, if someone is looking. Super annoying
