So I did receive these Lidl HG10491 Smart Plugs, and have been playing around with them for some time.
The good news is that these devices indeed can be integrated with Home Assistant, and provide eight Entities like this:
I followed the steps from Prepare Home Assistant and To add a new device using the Android Companion app.
Currently I do not have IPv6 activated in my local network, but I did activate IPv6 in the HA Settings → System → Network settings to get a Link Local address only. I am not sure that this really is required, but at least it does work like this.
The main issue with these Smart Plugs in Home Assistant is that the Energy values (in Wh) stay at zero, so are not correctly read from the device. This has already been reported by another user on GitHub: Matter Plugs Power Consumption always 0 #131522
Some other issues and observations that I have with these Smart Plugs in Home Assistant are:
- It seems to be impossible to set the WiFi SSID to be used by the device: when the device is added via the HA Companion App the SSID to which the phone currently is connected is given to the device, and this cannot be changed afterwards.
- The same counts for the WiFi credentials: these cannot directly be set and are probably automatically taken from the current phone settings.
- It also is not possible to directly set a Fixed IP-address for the device.
- When the device is added via the HA Companion App the local DHCP server assigns an IP-address, which address is shown in the HA UI Device Info. However, when this IP-address is then changed in the DHCP server by using a DHCP reservation this does work (the device is using the new, now fixed, IP-address), but the IP-address is not updated in the HA UI Device Info (this keeps showing the old initial IP-address).
- Although I am able to install and use the HA Companion app on a smartphone with GrapheneOS, it looks like adding a Matter device via the HA Companion App does not work via GrapheneOS. I had to use an old phone with Android.
If anybody has remarks or ideas about this, then please respond.
