Location updating doesn't work (very serious problem for my automations)

Yes. It’s only used when its needed, so battery use is negligible.

I don’t think you are talking about the same thing everyone else is thinking about. High accuracy mode is a special mode the HA android app enters where it gets a GPS updates every 5 seconds by default. That can indeed be battery intensive.

I believe you are referring to an old location setting that would indicate if GPS could be used, which is not the same thing here.

Obviously, that’s not what I understood, based on the mention of using NR to control high accuracy. It seems the controls within the app would be enough for that. Apologies for any confusion.

On my android I went to settings and apps found the hassio app went to storage and cleared the cache and the data. I knew it would force me to login again Then went back to the app and when I logged in I had to enable location permissions again but once I did this it has been good for months now. I do get prompts from time to time about apps that track my location and just make sure I do not disable ha

Hi.
I am also struggling with GPS issues. I have learned what probably was my problem but have not checked it out yet. I have set the accuracy to a low number so many report was ignored.
Nevertheless this brought out an interesting issue. I was driving as usual from home to my office, a 15Km drive. This have happened more that once but lately I have added pushover notifications to home alarm and NVR status automations so while driving I know (in a safe way) what state is my home burgler alarm (HA based) and NVR being at. I have 4 stored location (home, my 2 office locations and my wife’s office).
What happened was that each of us arrived at his/her office temporarily, me/her was considered at home for about a minute (I see this in the history and verified this by calling her).
This looks like a bug as if a person’s arrives to a non home known location, he is being reported as being home for a short while.
The other strange this is that during my ride to the office, in the middle of the path, I have defined as being back home and I was shown on the map as being home.
I can understand that some location reports are being dropped out but why I get these to strange phenomena events?
What my digging showed that may help to overcome this is that the proximity sensor of each user (me and my wife have different persons and users in the HA). It may not be updated that fast (I will see after the update of the accuracy) but for sure it can prevent such an abnormal situations as when I am far away, I can’t jump home that fast and in my specific case, the distance was reasonable so automation can tuned to have such a condition.
Any ideas why there is a jitter in locations while distance is at least 15Km.
Edited: Just got home to try and look into this.
I have found the bug. I had my person entity containing one of my in home tablets so once I get a position from it and do not get a position from my phone, the tablet wins.
