Lovelace UI: Please Free Us From The Layout Trap

I understand your argument - nevertheless we are not talking about a fancy superspecial requirement. We are talking about a very, very simple task: The size of a button!

Really noone should ran into the situation of having to use a custom card only because he or she wants to use differnt sizes and layouts rather than the “hardcoded” one (which are making absolutely no sense for a button by the way).

No sense to YOU. Anyway, rail against the machine all you like…

I think every user knows best what makes sense for him. A reason more to give the users the possibility to adjust this in an easy manner

Agree with op. The fixed column layout in 2022 is a nightmare. Free form canvas. I ll put up cash for that.

After almost 5 years, I think this is worth a push

Pushing this as well. The example of Grafana is a good one. Would love to organize my dashboards in HA like I can do it in Grafana!

Hey I’m still alive! And I still think that the unflexible behaviour in regards of dashboard layout is one of the most negative points in Homeassistant. I don’t get why this is still an issue…

I think two years ago I saw an alpha/beta implementation which did exactly that. I thought great, finally its coming. Instead, we now have this botched version where I can roughly adjust card sizes with two sliders. Compared to how flexible the dashboard layout is in Grafana, this has become a completely crippled feature.
