I haven’t revisited this config as it’s been working great for the last three years.
The easiest way to make your switch appear as a light would be tell HA to display the entity as a light. To do this, go the ESPHome integration and select your device. Click on the switch followed by the settings gear. You’ll see an option labeled “Show as” which you can change to light. This tells HA to hide the switch entity and create a light entity in its place.
