Most Reliable ESP32?

Hi all,

I have a couple of Heltec WiFi Kit 32 v2 ESP32s that have rock solid Wi-Fi connections on Arduino sketches and Tasmota but connect 1 in 10 times with ESPHome firmware (It’s the dreaded 4-way Hand Shake issue). I don’t want to replace my not brand new but sufficient router because of a $18 ESP32.

What ESP32 boards has everyone had good luck with connecting to Wi-Fi consistently? I have a dedicated 20Mhz network running for HA on the clearest channel I can find in my densely developed neighborhood. It seems like the Espressif reference designs work well, like this one: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Espressif-Systems/ESP32-C3-DevKitC-02?qs=stqOd1AaK7%2F1Q62ysr4CMA%3D%3D&mgh=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAyPyQBhB6EiwAFUuakuG3sFfG-NNnxa0IIkG3FktjVDOjsGtDSDBMVlAgGm_ubRQXdr669RoCQJsQAvD_BwE.

Thoughts?

Thanks. My searching was apparently not up to snuff.
