That is inadvisable due to the resource load that would put on the system. There is a built in random 500 tracks playlist. If you want to try anyway you might be able to open the tracks view, enable multi select, scroll all the way to the bottom and then CTRL-A and add to a playlist. Alternatively, you could try and create one with VLC. Again I caution you that this might break MA if you don’t run it on a powerful host.
I’ve set-up everything - but there is a major catch:
When combining everything inside MA, I have now a great interface - which I’d really love to use in any devices browser.
Now the problem is - I usually access ha via an URL that is available internally and externally.
But when using the URL, which is mainly do, the audio is not playing.
I usually proxy the address via NPM / Nginx.
I’ve tried to open the http-port to external (via the proxy) as a stream and also as a normal host, none is working.
Does anyone have a usable setup, which does not rely on proxying via https?
(I already know that this is not working from the Github-repository discussion)
Thanks you, I have tested it with 500 files and it takes my little NAS to the limit. I think you are right, 4000 files are too much.

Just wanted to follow up on this as I have perhaps identified the issue (at least in my case…). I can replicate it… taking a closer look at a capture I found if I use my SonoS controller to play a playlist for example and MA is running it intermittently issues the following… “2025-02-13 16:05:54.832 DEBUG (MainThread) [music_assistant.players] Handling command cmd_stop for player” even though it’s not controlling the queue. SonoS is. So I believe that causes a conflict. This happens randomly but I can eliminate it by stopping MA.
I did check if there was any bug reported on this and I didn’t see anything but before I submit one need to do some more tracing. Will keep posted.

Anyone else using Apple Music suddenly lost all Playlists? Running 2.4.0 BETA 27 since it came out and it has been playing all day without issues.
I’ve been using Music Assistant for a while now and it’s been working great overall. But suddenly all my Playlists have disappeared.
When I look through Home I do see all the Tracks, Artists and Albums and they all work when I start playing. But when I browse everything is empty for Apple Music.
Don’t see errors in the logs about it and rebooting the add-on doesn’t change it.
[Edit]
And suddenly everything reappeared as if nothing happened . Any idea what can cause this?
Hi all and thanks for this fantastic project.
Is it normal that if I start playing a track from one HA device, i.e. a tablet, and then open MA from another device, i.e. a smartphone, the second one does not see what’s going on, like playing a track?
Thanks
If you targeted the MA entity from HA then you will see the playback progress in the MA UI
what do you mean with “If you targeted the MA entity from HA” ?
Sorry, my english is not perfect.
I’ve opened MA from same interface, from the sidebar, on both devices, but on the second one, even if MA was playing a track, it was not shown and it resulted as idle
That is not normal. If you are looking at the same instance of MA on two devices then you will see the same thing.
That would be amazing!
Good morning,
Installed and works perfectly !
Just struggling a little with the group player function.
I can only select UNIVERSAL and that results in music not being synched.
I have Google Cast devices and have them grouped in the Google Home app ( as mentioned in the docs : Remember Chromecast devices must be grouped in the Google Home app for perfect sync ) but I cannot select that group.
What am I missing ?
Thanks !
The Cast group should just appear as a player in the list.
Thanks @OzGav
Yesterday I’m pretty sure it was like this.
Now I’ve tried again and it works fine…
Hi,
suddenly last night I couldn’t play any track anymore. I am on server version 2.3.6, getting the error
The above exception was the direct cause of the following exception:

It happens for all the media players. Tracks are visible in the UI.
a sudden cold shower after spending hours of fixing MP3 tags…
Any advice?
Thanks
Indeed … but it does not. Hence the question.
I’d like to use Music Assistant on my Android phone away from home for streaming my content. My kids would also like to use their iPhones as well if possible. Is there an easy way to set up a player and have control? I do have VPN and reverse proxy set up.
Hi. I have the Integration (non-beta) version of MA installed to my HA. I was looking in the “Media” section in my HA and do not see MA playlists, albums, etc located there. I only have Spotify imported to MA currently. Is this something only available in the beta version of MA? I’m currently running 2.3.6.
You have to select a MA player
I have all of my speakers set within MA to play. But when I go to a media player card and click on the player, MA is not an option to choose.
Do you have the integration installed? Home Assistant Integration - Music Assistant
