Mysterious queries to yourdomain.duckdns.org

Hello,

Pi-hole is reporting that my Home Assistant 0.74.2 IP address is sending about 1 query per second to yourdomain.duckdns.org.

I am not using remote access, and I cannot find any references to duckdns in the configuration YAMLs.

Here is a list of the add-on I am using:

  • Check Home Assistant configuration
  • Configurator
  • Node-Red
  • SSH & Web terminal
  • Samba share

literally “yourdomain” or is that an example?

It might not be Home Assistant… is your router setup to log into duckdns? A computer running a logon client? I think Pihole will pick up anything on the network making a request.

He literally said his HA IP address is making the DNS request to PiHole. Also interested if it is literally “yourdomain”

Thanks for your replies! Yes, Pi-Hole was reporting queries literally to “yourdomain.duckdns.org”.

It seems that it was a Node-Red problem. A configuration node with the Base URL set to “yourdomain.duckdns.org” was the culprit. (I don’t remember creating this node…)

I had to uninstall and then re-install Node-Red. Here is a related thread:
