Need help automating a dumb fan while also still using its physical remote

Ok another update:

The solution to my fan remote issue is to not use it. I’m now using an old DVD player remote, that I much prefer. It sends NEC, 100% consistency.

There is now an added delay to using the fan because the blaster needs to receive a signal, then send a signal. But I can live with a few milliseconds.

I have found NEC to be precise and 100% accurate. Are you using your DVD remote to operate the Fan? May be based on the placement of remote receiver and your IR blaster there may be delays or the delay could be due to the processing done and retransmission of the signals?
