New Install (invocation error)

Petro,

Perhaps you are referring to your suggestion that I “remove the firewall”. Do you understand that the machine running HA IS the firewall. It cannot be “removed”. Or do I misunderstand what you mean?

I understand that the device you have is the firewall. You stated that here

That’s perfectly fine that you run this on your firewall. But you’re running on an old device with a special situation.

So, again, to trouble shoot the 3 things that could be causing your problem (network, device, firewall), remove them piece by piece.

So a few ways that you may be able to remove your firewall:

Is your firewall a Linux box running off a flash drive? Get another flash drive and plop a fresh install of Haspbian. The OS running your firewall will be safely contained on the other flash drive and you can just cold swap between the two whenever you feel the need.

Hardware doesn’t run off a flash drive, but has an internal hard drive:

Buy a Canakit for 40$ and a flash drive for 15$ and install Hasbian.

You have plenty of options to trouble shoot this issue to remove your firewall or hardware.

To remove the network, just don’t plug it into your device. Your device will need monitor, keyboard, and mouse support. You will not be able to use Hass.io in this fashion because IIRC Hass.io never displays the OS to the user.
