No entities for Devolo Z-Wave switches switch

Hi there,

I bought two Devolo wall switches (https://www.devolo.com/en/Products/devolo-Home-Control-Wall-Switch) and included and excluded them a few times. They look included correctly to me but I do not get entites (other than a general one). Thus hitting a button does not trigger a state change. What am I doing wrong?

I have same switch and not see any entities too. Think to get 4entities every button own, but not see anything on Home Assistant.

I don’t have that specific zwave switch, but none of my zwave devices give an “instant” update. Have you setup polling? Thats what I so when someone turns on the switch manually, it gets updated when HA polls the device at the interval I specify.

Example:

@ericleejoe Hi Thanks for info. Do you mean i need to do that under Switches on configuration.xml? Normally all zwave devices do entities totally automatic. Just pairing zwave devices to my zwave gateway and after restart HA every entities are automatically there.

Now i need to do that line on switches place on configuration yaml? Is that doing entities automatically after that? Sorry maybe stupid questions but zwave i have too much info. But wall swithches only way is going with zwave switches, mqtt + wlan use totally too much electric with battery use. And zwave devices are allready nice looking to put every where on apartment.

I have the same device, I’m new to hass but have been playing with it for the last few days. At some point, I managed to send some commands that were showing in OZW logs but wasn’t sure what I did and started again with no success ever since. Reading different forums, I believe this is to do with operating mode. It can operate in group, scene and association. By default, the mode is set to group and in this mode, it will not send any notification to hass. It needs scene mode.

It is similar to zwave.me controller and there are some guidelines how to change the mode but I have not been successful yet. It also needs (apparently) an update in you zwcf* file (Central Scen Configuration) https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/z-wave/device-specific/

My entities are there all the time. I was referring to the switch status updating when someone toggles the switch physically at the switch. I may have misunderstood your original question. However, I would be glad to share any of my zwave device settings if that helps you. Like I mentioned before, I don’t have that type of switch, but I do have quite a lot of zwave devices.

I got it working, I used the PR from here: “Central Scene” Command Class - Fibaro Swipe, HomeSeer WS-100D Switches

It then enabled Node Config Options and I was able to use Default Central Scene to Gateway. After this is set, you can force the switch to wakeup (Maagement Mode -> Button 2) and the setting will be applied. Don’t forget to update zwcf* config file, otherwise events will not be triggered. Used this for automation: https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/z-wave/events/

i found this after hours of pissing around it finally works…

hardest bit is getting the settings to stick…

so first remove the battery blocker from the device, then do zwave new device add on hass.io

when its searching press any button on the wall switch it will then flash red/green

once this is done hold down all 4 buttons when the light goes green press button 1 (top left) and itll flash red/green again quickly. do this about 3-4times and youll see the zave go, session, node id, cache load ect… it will never really say complete. once this is done then

stop your hass.io instance before copying the extra code into the zwave file and save.

once thats done ssh into homeassistant using putty and type hassio homeassistant restart

once home assistant comes back on then go into the new node and the node config parameters will now be avaliable, now you need to get the button 1 & 3 pair mode to be on the seperately setting, this is a pain in the ass to do…

what i done was select it and apply it, it will then go back to what it was before, then i hold down all 4 buttons on the wall switch til it flashes green, then press button 3 (bottom left) and it will flash for 10 secs during this time quickly select the seperately mode again and click set again… it may or may not stick or itll go back to what ever it was on again, then hold down all 4 buttons again and waiit for the green light, then quickly select seperately again then hit button 1 (top left) and press set both at same time… it may again stick or not, (this is a pain in the ass to do it took me best part of 30mins to get it to stick on the seperately mode (numerous restarts too) once its on the seperatey setting then do the same for the button 2 & 4 Pair mode (same scenario as abaove) once both the 1&3 and 2&4 are on the seperately mode then check the command to control group (a,b,c,d) are all set to central scene to gateway (default)

Set the switch as follows:

1: Button 1 and 3 pair mode => Separetely
2: Button 2 and 4 pair mode => Separetely

Other settings can be left at their default value.

This will allow to assign a scene id to each button:

scene id = 1 for the button at the top left
scene id = 2 for the button at the top right
scene id = 3 for the button at the bottom left

scene id = 4 for the button at the bottom right

Follow these instructions to enable central scenes for Hank HKZN-SCN01: https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/z-wave/device-specific/#hank-one-key-scene-controller-hkzn-scn01. Make sure you stop HA, edit the zwcfg*.xml file as specified, then restart HA.
