Picture Elements, misleading docs? Or

…have I missed something glaringly obvious?

I am discovering how wonderful the Picture elements card is for my wall tablet but I cannot find a way to display just some text despite what the docs say:
“The cards allow you to position icons or text and even services!”

Am I missing something?
Also, I know I could use (and currently I am)

type: custom:hui-markdown-card

as an element but I am having performance issues with my cheap tablet so am looking for ways to improve the screen refresh time and thought a ‘native’ bit of text might render quicker and more efficiently than a markdown card.
