PoE Android wall tablet panel advice

Want pick up a few PoE wall panels and had some questions:

Is there a recommended brand?
How are you keeping them up to date?
Are you using custom ROMs?

For example I currently use iPad air2, with Poe adapter (powe and network, no WiFi), Amazon fire HD with Poe adapter and few Crestron 1060 panels = Poe by nature, cheap, slow, proven quality.
