Rainforest Automation EMU-2 (Energy Component)

Are you saying that you aren’t updating your HA at all after 2022.3.0 in order to keep this integration functioning?

How long is it supposed to take for the data to show up in the energy dashboard? I had to pull teeth for the integration to configure and not crash the HAOS, it it eventually created the sensors. Two (current period usage and current price) are unknown, though, even if the data is in the device. It has been about a couple of hours already.

No data after waiting overnight. The sensors report “unknown”. It looks like no value is being read.

A word of warning on these devices. If they go out of range of the power meter, they begin broadcasting at high power, stepping through the 2.4 GHz range trying to find a connection. In the process it basically obliterates 2.4 GHz WiFi when it conflicts with the channel your WiFi is on. My 2.4 WiFi devices (ESP32, etc) were dropping off WiFi every 5-10 minutes and it took me a week plus building a frequency scanner to find the problem.

I had my EMU-2 working for a while bringing information into my Hassio setup, but about a month ago it stopped working correctly. Most the time it would just say unavailable for the entities, and after a restart it would pick up one data point reading and then go to unavailable after that.

I decided to delete the device and re add it. It is finding the EMU when I go to setup, but after clicking submit it crashes hassio. After it reboots, if I am still on the page, it shows that an unknown error occured. I deleted the repo from hacs and started from scratch, but I am still having the same issue. My EMU-2 is working correctly showing information from my meter.

Anyone have any ideas for me? I miss having this data :frowning:

This is happening to me too. When I go to add the EMU-2, homeassistant hangs and I have to power cycle my rpi.

Running

Home Assistant 2022.10.4
Supervisor 2022.10.0
Operating System 9.2
Frontend 20221010.0

How’s this working now? is it fixed in later releases?

Does Anyone know if the Eagle 3 has the same API’s and will work with this integration ? … $99 Im thinking of getting one…

gutted to find this thread and see no real fix for the locking up HA during install. I got an EMU-2 from PSE and spent the time migrating my install from hyper-v to vmware only to stumble upon this bug DOH!

Anyone identify a fix.

Dove into this project again tonight to discover that the same issue still exists. There has been some updates to the project on git, but seems like none of them have stomped out this little bug.
(referring to the bug that crashes HA when attempting setup of integration)

According to at least 3 people here the eagle 3 will work with the core rainforest automation integration.

Anyone else having issues with their EMU-2 causing shutdown delays during a restart in the last few versions of HA? I dont know exactly when it started, but it causes HA to take about 5 minutes to restart.

2023-04-30 12:00:59.557 WARNING (MainThread) [homeassistant.core] Timed out waiting for shutdown stage 1 to complete, the shutdown will continue

I just became a PSE customer and was wondering about the energy dashboard or any other way to integrate the meter into Home Assistant. It looks like they no longer offer the EMU-2, according to their website :frowning:

I guess I might have to look at another option to integrate monitoring unless another else has any ideas.

You can still buy it from Rainforest and ask them to set it up.

I know a neighbor about 6 months ago bought one and called them to activate it and they did even though they are not supporting it anymore. Also on PSE.

After a recent update (not sure which one, since it took me a while to realize) the native integration for the EMU-2 no longer sees the device connected via USB.

i’m using Home assistant blue

Anyone else having issues?
