Raspberry pi boot from USB drive?

Is there a way to install hass.io on a usb drive instead of an sd card and allow raspberry pi to boot from that?

More information: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/bootmodes/msd.md

I’d like to install hass.io on a SanDisk Extreme CZ80 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive which i think has better reliability than a sd card

Thank you!

I’ve done this - been running for a week now just off my USB stick.

I started with an SD card setup with hass.io and then backed that image up using win32 disk imager. I then took another SD card with rassbian and followed the directions you linked.

I then wrote my hass.io SD image to my USB stick.

Plugged it in and it worked!

Ill try this than. Thanks!
