Recomendation for a powerful upgrade

Ok, thanks. I’ve seen this and was looking for more details. This will be my first time setting up a docker.

But you’re not setting up docker. You run a script and that’s it. As long as you have the prerequisites installed, you don’t configure anything

Yes, I know. However, I want (and plan to) to setup an Intel NUC with docker. Then, I’m hoping I can run Hass.io in it’s own container. I don’t know anything about docker yet but will begin researching . Thanks again.

That script does EXACTLY that.

To add to that, hassio is a docker container running home assistant plus a supervisor for hassio and whatever addons you run.

Hassos is a minimal operating system designed for running the hassio supervisor, home assistant container and addons.

However the hassio supervisor/ha and addons can be run on another linux operating system, and that is what the scrip sets up.

There is also a hassio addon for running portainer, which allows other docker containers to be added, ie ones that are not specifically a hassio addon.

I have a setup almost exactly like you are talking about, except it’s not specifically a NUC. I ran the script they are talking about and it added the Supervisor and HASSIO containers to my Docker setup. I also run a few other containers on the server not directly a part of HASS or any addon. Hassio does it’s thing and my other containers do their thing. Addons work perfectly and I still have the control that all the haters talk about losing when you run Hassio.

I’ll try Hassio in a docker once I decide on the hardware and purchase it. I’m hoping Cyber Monday will have some influence on my hardware purchase (LOL). Thanks for sharing.

I’ve been using Xprotect for a bit now. I’d really love to see an add-on or integration to use the system more native in HA.
