Recover backup/snapshot through diskmount

Hi,

After an update my Pi4 died, (and HDMI micro cable lost, new ordered and on the way  )

What I’m considering is do a full reinstall and then restore the snapshot/backup.
However the pi no longer boots. So I mounted the SD card to my PC and found the folder:
/dev/disk2s8: /supervisor/backup/
There is one backup tar file in this folder, can I use that file as a restore backup?
Or do I need to dive in a bit more on other locations to find the snapshots?

Many thanks in advance,
JWR

I guess it depends how old the snapshot is.

The alternative is to copy your entire /config folder (including the hidden .storage folder) from the old to the new installation. Unlike the snapshot, you will have to re-set up any addons / local USB devices.

Then once you are up and running again, set up one of these automated snapshot methods to ensure this does not happen again:

To a NAS: Samba Backup: Create and store snapshots on a Samba share

To Goggle Drive: Add-on: Home Assistant Google Drive Backup

To DropBox: Hass.io Add-on: Upload hassio snapshots to Dropbox

To NextCloud or S3: [New Addon] Snap-Shipper - Webdav and S3 backups (and probably other ways to later on)
