Return Hue lights to previous state

Is there a way to make Phillips Hue lights return back to the previous state.

For example, If I have a scene turned on, then when playing media the lights dim. When the media stops then an automation makes then fade back in, but to a defined scene.

It would be much better if they just went back to the state they were in previously?

Hope im making sense

Someone must surely have an answer to this? Its available in the official hue API? :frowning:

I see what you’re saying, but I don’t think there’s a way of doing exactly what you want.
I have a similar automation for Lifx:
scene.evening_lights turns on before dusk
if media is playing on the tv, scene.media is turned on
when media stops, scene.evening_lights is fired.

Works perfectly, every time, with little to no delay.

Yeah I have a similar thing, all controlled fine by scenes, but I dont want my scenes set to a routine in Home assistant, I like to be able to call scenes from Alexa depending on day/time/mood, basically set it to whats relevant for that specific time.

It would be incredibly useful for home assistant to store the settings of the lights to be able to switch back to the previous setting.
