Jeff, I’ve addressed this digression, in the accordian item below.
I hope that addressing it means everyone can hereafter keep this thread solely about where/how Home Assistant users can best run Wireguard.
I also hope it will help to keep this thread snark-free. Thank you.
Summary
Yes, the other thread is the right place to discuss OHF insistence on MS - but it was locked by a heavy-handed mod. Unless it’s unlocked, no more discussion can happen there. I already asked the mods to re-open it. Maybe if other people ask too, they will do so?
(Locking that thread illustrates the OHF’s troubling approach on this front: promote MS, restrict choice, suppress or ignore concern. I subsequently learned Microsoft has been buttering-up the core team, making them apparently feel indebted to MS: “GitHub was an incredible host … it was nice to give something back to them after so many years of support they have given this project.” For OHF to “give” to MS is simply feudal. Promoting MS over FOSS is a genuine conflict-of-interest against OHF’s stated goals & I believe OHF is not being objective here. You’re welcome to disagree.)
If someone could have usefully contributed to this thread, but chose not to because they disagreed with a valid point that I raised in a different thread - that’s on them.
It would have been neither “smart”, nor “adult” - it would have been churlish, and childish.
If someone has a useful on-topic contribution to add to this thread, they should simply post it here.
