Searching for a robot vacuum cleaner with a 4cm threshold-climbing function that can be integrated into Home Assistant and used declouded/cloud-free

I am looking for a vacuum robot that can be integrated into Home Assistant, but without (constant) relying on the cloud.

Now I know Valetudo and that may be an option, but I would personally also be fine with just blocking network access to the robot after setup (also setup in HA).

Problem: I have a 4cm doorstep/doorsill here, which severely limits the models that can be used. As a threshold climbing feature is not there for many robots.

So, do you have any recommendations? Any experience reports would help a lot.

There the Eureka J15 Max Ultra was recommend, also because of an easy rooting procedure for Valetudo and it has the wanted climbing feature.

BTW as for Valetudo I tried to confirm whether step climbing really works. (my post in their GitHub discussions was unfortunately deleted)
However, I found these release notes:

But, with that, Valetudo now has a new Vendor with an easy root not requiring some self-soldered PCB;
Featuring models that are cheap, models that can climb higher thresholds, and models that have a bagless auto-empty dock.

For thresholds, the robot should be able to better climb them through being aware that they exist and driving accordingly

Something like the Roborock Saros 20 should work for you. Can go over 4.5cm thresholds (+ another 4.3cm threshold if there’s 2 in a row) and is supported by the Roborock integration using local polling (though you can’t block internet access or it’ll stop working)

Well that’s a showstopper. I also saw that roborock integration and it writes:

Home Assistant uses local communication for commands and polling but relies on the cloud for setup and fallback control.

That sounds as if it should work once setup? However, I also remember reading somewhere the map only works with internet access.

Unfortunately not Roborock - Home Assistant. Though in their defence, Roborock are an exception which I would allow to phone home. They have dedicated EU servers certified by TUV Rheinland which are walled off from the rest of the Aqara/Xiaomi ecosystem.

I trust them enough to have been running their app for the S7 Max V (with an actual camera built in) for the past 3 years. Never had an issue or something which led me to believe something funny is going on.
