Secure NFC tags in home assistant

Hello!

I am looking for a way to use secure NFC tags / NFC authentication (not just based on the tag ID) to avoid tag duplication. This is to control access to the home (e.g. opening a yale smart lock).

doc on secure NFC authentication :NFC Tag Authentication Explained - Seritag

Is there any existing code for this?

Presumably, one would need to store the used tags in a database (locally, or cloud?). How would one go about this?

Thank you.

Hi. Although a neeby here I have spent some time with NFC tags. AFAI understand your request you might like to use the password option with a tag (encrypt/decrypt stored data with the pw in your local HA system?) and maybe set the tag readonly?
I understand HA’s concept of tag using (useless when not logged in) but from a security point of view why not indeed encrypt critical tags (door locks, alarm systems with direct line to the next police precinct) just to be safe?

Thanks for replying to this old thread!

Thanks to UniFi access integration, I no longer need this as much.
