Sense - Energy monitor

Hi,

I just found this energy monitor: https://sense.com/#

Seems to be promising based on the video, I can imagine many automation with it, if it is possible. I did not have time yet to review/research this product in detail.

I have a Sense installed. A few months back they added support for IFTTT, beyond that there is no API - yet - they seem open to it based on some interaction I had with them on Twitter.

Thank you for the info. How do you like it so far? Is it usefull, would you recommend to buy one?

I have one as well, its had its ups and downs but I think now its detecting devices properly.

I do see that they do have some endpoint to monitorapi.sense.com and api.sense.com/api/ but haven’t dug in to see what can be found there.

@bruhautomation put together a nice review of it. From what I gathered from his review the ‘learning’ of devices isn’t instant and can take a week or two and any duplicates (multiple AC units, an oven with two coils, lightbulbs) it will struggle with. Interesting tech but not sure it all the way there.

They’ve fixed the duplication problem a few updates ago by allowing devices to be merged together.

I’ve used it for about 2 months now and I can say the discovery of devices is indeed not the fastest process but I do enjoy every time it discovers new ones!

I’m really looking forward to be able to use it with HA

I have had a sense now for about a year. Works great and with the latest webapp https://home.sense.com/ cant wait to see how we can integrate this into homeassistant.

Any update to the Sense complete integration into HA

For anyone interested, I forked the official sense component and added the ability to create sensors for every discovered device: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/sense-energy-monitor-enhanced-to-include-devices/
