Set integration to only try connecting when certain conditions are met to avoid "Network error", "Timeout", etc

I have devices that are both integrated directly, but also plugged into a smart switch. E.g., media setups (receiver, TV, Playstation, etc.).

Because the smart switch automatically cuts all power when we’re not using it, the devices get an error in HA, and HA continuously tries to reconnect in vain.

Is it possible to specify in some way that HA should only try to connect to a certain device when some condition is met? In my case, only try reconnecting once e.g. the switch is turned on, or when the Unifi integration shows that the device in online.

I’m very interested in this too, for the same reasons. I’m cutting the stand-by power off wherever I can to save some energy, and yes, my logs are then also full of errors…

Following this thread with a lot of attention
