Hi all,
I am new to Home Assistant. I already have some Zegbee products working with Alexa just in my room. Now, I plan to automate the whole home. So, I bought SkyConnect. Tried to connect a movement sensor and it worked well when it is close to the SkyConnect. I moved it to another place where the WiFi is available but did not work and the connection was broken. I used to work with Smart Life where it aks me to enter the WiFi credentials.
Really, I don’t know how SkyConnect is configuring the Zegbee products!.
Any help is appreciated.
Is your Skyconnect connected using a USB extension cable, and in a USB 2 port ?
Zigbee is not the same as WiFi.
Thanks.
So, SkyConnect is just for nearby products?. I thought it is possible to add my WiFi credentials and use it everywhere as I am doing before.
Zigbee is a mesh protocol. It gets extended by using Zigbee routers (mains powered Zigbee devices)
Read here all about Zigbee:
Zigbee does not have anything to do with Wi-Fi. Read the ZHA integration docs, like ex:
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha#introduction
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha#using-router-devices-to-add-more-devices
What you’re looking for is not zigbee, but Matter/Thread. These are the protocols that use IPV6. And Skyconnect is just both Zigbee and Thread/Matter compatible.
