Smart life presence sensor

Is the smartlife zigbee human presence sensor compatable with the sonoff zigbee 3.0 dongle? I cannot get this sensor to read properly using the companion app. Any suggestions?

Not sure what you mean by “read properly” but the coordinator shouldn’t matter.

Are you using ZHA or Zigbee2mqtt?

According to this: ZY-M100 Tuya Human Presence Sensor Review | Blakadder's Smarthome Shenanigans it should be compatible with both but ZHA has a lot less features.

If by “read properly” you mean it is “not pairing at all”, do you actually have a zigbee version and not a wifi version?

It pairs without a problem, when I set up my device to trigger an automation it does not detect movement, if I run the automation manually the lights turn on and off as I want them too

Manually running an automation just executes the actions, it does not test the trigger or conditions.

So there’s nothing wrong with your actions or probably even your device. It’s likely to be your triggers or conditions.

Please share your automation triggers and conditions, in fact share the whole automation. Properly formatted for the forum:

Also in future when asking for support (for anything, not just home assistant) please describe the problem symptoms, not what you think the problem is. In this case “my automation is not triggering” instead of “is the smartlife zigbee human presence sensor compatable with the sonoff zigbee 3.0 dongle?”

This is referred to as the X-Y problem.

The XY problem is asking about your attempted solution rather than your actual problem. This leads to enormous amounts of wasted time and energy, both on the part of people asking for help, and on the part of those providing help.

  • User wants to do X.
  • User doesn’t know how to do X, but thinks they can fumble their way to a solution if they can just manage to do Y.
  • User doesn’t know how to do Y either.
  • User asks for help with Y.
  • Others try to help user with Y, but are confused because Y seems like a strange problem to want to solve.
  • After much interaction and wasted time, it finally becomes clear that the user really wants help with X, and that Y wasn’t even a suitable solution for X.

The problem occurs when people get stuck on what they believe is the solution and are unable step back and explain the issue in full.

I got the device running now as I want it to, it took a little bit more in the animation process than the other brand of this type of sensor, my second one and its very nice, sorry for the uninformed questions
