Snapshots from a Nest camera so I can do object detection / camera_view has to be set to live to see on dashboard

I’m a little bit confused. Is it possible to save camera clips from the nest wired with home assistant? My usecase is simple: When a person (or packages) is detected save the clip with filename containing date and time.

If possible, what is the code (preferabble in node-red)

Jeroen

I realise that this is quite an old thread, but I thought it was worth noting that I found a way around this… but unfortunately it isn’t free.

I bought the $99USD Starling Hub (intended for HomeKit), paired it with HA via the HomeKit controller integration and voila - consistently updating snapshots. It even improves the latency dramatically, I’m getting live shots within 3 seconds or so.

I think it’s worth it personally, as you also get a whole lot of sensors from the camera exposed to HA (package detection, animal detection, familiar faces etc.).

Does it work with battery/Solar powered nest devices?
