Ahh, I did not decode that at all.
Hi guys,
sorry but I have a question:
I have a SkyConnect. At the moment configured with Thread Firmware. I want to install Multiprotocol but I don’t find the setting anymore. I just installed the Multiprotocol add-on, but I can’t bind Zigbee devices.
Do I need Thread configuration for Eve Energy Matter devices?
I have multiple Apple TVs and HomePods in my Network. I also installed the Matter Server add-on.
Thanks
Dominik
The setting is no longer in Home Assistant Core (this is because we switched how the ZBT-1/SkyConnect gets detected). Also Multiprotocol is not recommended anymore (see Home Assistant Connect ZBT-1).
However, for your setup, you don’t need Multiprotocol.
You can use your Apple TVs and HomePods as Thread Border Router, and commission the Matter device still directly with Home Assistant. If you use an Apple iOS device to add the Matter devices to HA, that should happen automatically. Make sure that you see the Apple Thread network (check the Thread configuration panel, the Apple networks are usually “MyHome”).
Maybe your Matter devices are already on the Apple Thread network? You can check that in the Matter device’s diagnostics page:
If this is the case, you can safely switch your SkyConnect to the Zigbee/EmberZNet firmware.
Thanks for your reply and explanation!
My Matter devices are already in the Apple Thread Network and are connected to HomeKit and Home Assistant.
Nice to know, that I can only use the Zigbee Radio!
Thanks again
Dominik
I feel this lies outside my current skillset. However in the long term it is possible, in the interim feel free to spin-up a kickstarter and i’ll push in some cash.
