Stop solar panels from producing energy when electricity price is negative. Tibber / Enhpase Envoy

same experience here.
in the morning they all recovered.
interested to know the difference between the envoy. might be that the metered ones are working. I have a standard one.

@Lectere, does the solution still works for you? I tested it a couple of weeks ago and it worked. However, I installed a Shelly relay and it seemed to have stopped working a couple of days ago. When i had a look at the Enphase forum (Enphase Community) it seemed to stopped working for other people as well.

It did three weeks ago. Have to say, it’s a bit slow to completely turn off, but it works.

I think the wiring shown is not correct. The Enphase installer manual says to move the resistor from terminals 7-9 to terminals 8-10 (unused terminal), and connect the DNO (ie your relay) between 7 and 10:
“If you will use a DNO device, move the resistor between terminals 8 and 10, and install the DNO device between terminals 7 and 10.”

That means your relay is switching the 15kΩ resistor in/out between terminals 7 and 8.

The standard (AS/NZS 4777.2:2015) it complies with states “The minimum functionality required for all gridconnected inverters is DRM0, i.e. operate the automatic disconnection device and the detection and response to the DRM
signal by the inverter must occur within 2 seconds.” Therefor you should not have to wait more than 2 seconds for it to work.
My HA updates Envoy data every 60 seconds, it may well be that this is why it seems that it takes a while to activate.

I’ll have a go at this when I’m back from vacation. It seems like correct information, thanks for sharing.

Geez, someone who is actually reading the f-ing Manual, how rare. But very valuable, thanks!

If it’s also working in practice, which it probably will, I’ll update this post.

The setup I have works, but is very slow to react, sometimes even upwards of 10 minutes. So I’m eager to test this, to see if this improves reponse time.

Thanks again!

I also just have the standard envoy S
If you got the DRM-0 relay to work what settings do you have on:

go to: “system”
Then the (wheel icon right top page) “settings”
Then scroll to “Power Production Limiting by Gateway”
Click Edit
I assume you enabled “Limit power production/export via reading of relays settings on Gateway’s Digital Input Port”
(Mine by default is on “Limit power production via Gateway”)
When selecting that you need to set number of relays (1~4) and levels (1~16)
I’m not sure what to set here, have not yet tried it.
But curious what your settings are if you have it working for just on/off switch.

I found this dutch(im dutch  ) page with more info on this DRM/levels:

It has lots info but scroll down you see screenshots of the relays/levels settings.

I also seen this video:

It seems the resistor is still in, and he just connects the 2 with a wire.

Oh and I forgot to mention in home assistant I use this enphase integration:

This is not the default home assitant integration but one from HACS.
This one gives a “Production” switch that turns on/off all solar production.
And this works on my (non metered) Envoy-S-Standard-EU.
Software Version 8.3.5167
You might need installer access for the production switch, I have installer access since I installed the system myself.
I think any solar company should give customers install access, since after install the customer owns it.
Else it’s like you buy a car but only your dealer can change you radio channel

As of about a week ago you don’t need any additional hardware to enable/disable Envoy Dynamic Power Export Limiting - the Pull Request I wrote for the Enphase Envoy (Installer) Home Assistant Integration was accepted and added to release 0.80. The functionality is exposed as simple Home Assistant Services, so you can write simple Automations to enable/disable power export.

Thanks a lot. Do you know how I can prevent problems when I’m currently running the official integration? Is deinstallation of that integration, then installing this one and naming the sensors the same to keep my history enough?

Hi, sorry I’ve been away for a while. Nice bit of research you’ve done, it helps. But I see the update from liamosaur might make the hardware unnecessary!

So, today I tried removing the official integration/removed the Envoy. There was no Envoy integration visible afterwards. Then I installed this version. But I got a notice suggesting there was already something else installed. Any idea on how to get around that message?
