Thermostat for home assistant

Hi. I’m looking at a thermostat to integrate it into home assistant.

My thermostat is two wires for heating. Im watching netamo, ecobee etc …

But i think if only two wires with a simple sonoff could bridge and do it woek, would be to set up rules with temperature sensors, desired temperature etc …

My question is what is the point of buying an ecobee, for example, if with a simple sonoff we are going to do the same. I’m missing something?

Thank you

If you want to do the control and logic through HA, then there’s no real need for a fancy controller.

A MQTT relay for example would work fine. You do need to consult the manual and find out what voltage it is though and make sure what you use is rated for it and safe to use.

this is what I mean, not with a basic sonoff because you have to isolate the 220v only communicate the cables. I imagine that there will be an automation created for this to integrate it into ha?

If I want to use it from the expense of an ecobbe is unnecessary?

Any opinion more?

Look here and there
