Tradfri Comes and goes

Hi all, donno if this is the right topic to post to, please feel free to move to a better suited location for this query.

I was wondering if anybody else has had this issue. I can’t seem to find a solution for. I have an Ikea tradfri hub and it used to work fine with hass however lately I’ve found it comes and goes. When I perform a clean install of whatever flavor of hass (raspbian with virtualenv, or hassio) it’ll startup without discovering my devices, and suddenly a day after “voila” and then a few days later gone again…

Is there a way to force loading instead of using the discovery method?

Thanks,

Lluco.

See here:

I have had my tradfri for 6 months or so. Using the old method where the security key was in the config I had issues like you explained.

After a firmware update and the new method (linked above) it has been rock solid.

Hi, the discovery system is active by default in the configuration file when you install Hass, and I was asked to insert the code once, the lights appear on the frontend, but not always. This is the issue, they come on (the frontend) and dissapear…

i’ve had my Tradfri bridge for some time now, and it also has been solid after the latest firmware update, except for the dhcp client. The only time the bulbs are not discovered by HA is when my router reboots.

Interesting, I wasn’t aware of that thread. I feel this may be the cause. Thanks, I’ll let you know how I get on with this.

Do you have your hub on a static IP? I have seen so many issues due to home automation devices being on the DHCP and not a static IP.

@silvrr Yes I have a static (assigned by the router) IP assigned to the Tradfi Bridge. As far I know the Tradfri Bridge is not capable of using a fixed ip-adres, so the next best thing is to use a static DHCP address.

Also the Bridge is running the latest firmware: v1.3.14

Working now, I suppose it was the assigning of the IP through DHCP… Thanks for your help.
