Tuya Temperature Sensors with Home Assistant

Hi All,

I purchased 3 Tuya Zigbee temperature sensors from Ali express. I have home assistant set up with other Zigbee devices using ZHA (in total about 16 devices). Now when I try to connect the new Tuya devices to my ZHA nothing happens. The sensors are put into discovery mode and the little blue light flashes but nothing is seen by ZHA. I thought may be there were too many devices on my ZHA so I tried to connect a different device which was successful. Anyone explain which it is not working? Note it is a zigbee sensor and I haven’t gone and both the wifi version.

Thanks

You have purchased a Zigbee device that is not supported in Home Assistant’s ZHA integration.

The problem is that in pairing mode the devices does not show up at all in the Home Assistant interface.

That is a totally different problem symptom and one that is most commonly due to EMF/EMI/RMI interference or/and having too few Zigbee Router devices, so reading and following all the tips from this guide will likley resolve that → Zigbee networks: how to guide for avoiding interference + optimizing using Zigbee Router devices (repeaters/extenders) to get best possible range and coverage

Hi,
I have now spent time reading the link that has been provided regarding interference and optimisation and I still am not able to get these three sensors to be picked up by my dongle. Looks like there is another issue here. Is there a way to find out what these sensors are. I am thinking if there is a code which I can search for on google then may be there is a targetted solution for this.

Thanks for any help

What sensors did you buy ?

These are the ones I have… the zigbee version.

This is my Home Assistant connect dongle:

This dongle is attached to an extension cable to keep it away from the host machine.

I use this temperature sensor with a tuya proprietary ZigBee gateway:

I think it can’t work with another gateway :frowning:

I have 3 of the same model. They joined with the same. I am running mgtt2Zigbee. Now I bought 2 more and neither of them are able to join.

I have this exactly same issue.

I’ve bought two zigbee black temperature sensors like these ones:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006512785860.html
They were both recognized without any problem.

Then I tried another white one, this one:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008063508116.html
and I wasn’t able to pair them. I thought it was a defective unit.

I then bought 4 others of this kind:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006687749899.html
and none of them actually worked.

Main difference between the two models, apart from the color, is that the black working one has a physical reset button in the battery slot, while the non-working white ones have a pin hole as reset.

I run a SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus (E version).

My main frustration is that apparently there’s no way to predict if the sensor will work or not before buying…
