Can you expand on how this is done? I have just ordered rs485 to ttl module and it would be great to know the api you used or code etc…
Did anyone have any joy with the galaxy integration , I have a SM alarms Ethernet module that gives me a virtual key pad on my phone and I am able to set up push notifications for any event I want.
But I am looking at using the circuits in the house for various automations, I currently have 10 sonoff minis connected the to outputs and circuits so I can set with alexa and and get a output when the alarm is set and sounding ect, to put alexas in DND and close blinds when we leave.

there is soon to be a virtual rio for the galaxy alarms, I am beta testing one at the moment, and it gives access to your zones and outputs to Home Assistant and will also allow writing to zones too. It also can create “virtual rios that the alarm sees as a physical one” It gives a fully functional on screen keypad too.

I’m also thinking of trying to use sia via the serial interface and use ser2net to connect to for example “SIA alarm systems integration into Home Assistant” written by eavanvalkenburg.

In case anyone’s interested in a very simple variant on this scheme, we have a standard Texecom alarm, and I didn’t want to interfere with it in any way, but I did want to know when it was armed, cleared or deteced an intruder.
Thats way above my skill set but Stuart is the owner of the Selfmon interfaces company, and is very clever when it comes to all things galaxy. I have been using his Ethernet module for 10 years now without issues for my monitoring and virtual keypad

Hi all,
I’m completely new to HA and I’m currently doing my reading up. I’m about to take keys of a new property so am starting with a blank canvas to eventually make into a smart home. From what I’ve been reading about, I am leaning towards Z-Wave as my communication protocol of choice. Looking at the documentation about Home Assistant integrations, I would like to build up a system that is as much local push as possible and minimise any cloud interaction to keep the system running (although it would be great to have cloud access whilst I’m out of the house).
As part of this, I’m looking at the alarm systems as one of the first pieces (I’m UK based) and have come across the Visonic Powermaster 360 (https://www.visonic.com/powermaster-360). It’s actually installed at my in-laws place (part of an ADT solution) so I have some familiarity with the Visonic-Go app and how it works. The reason specifically for this controller is that is mentions Z-Wave for home automation as a feature. I believe Tyco / Visonic use PowerG as their communication protocol so whilst I don’t think I would have direct access to the PIR and door/window detectors I presume the z-wave integration would mean I have access to these through the controller?
I’m wondering if anyone else has any experience with Visonic and this specific controller in a wider HA implementation? Otherwise, I’m wondering if there are any other recommendations that would lean towards local push over cloud polling and that could integrate with HA and Z-Wave devices?
Appreciate any help that can be offered.

You don’t actually have to buy a alarm panel.
You could choose to go with something like Konnected which is essentially a board that acts as a alarm panel and you wire all your sensors into that and passes the info onto Home Assistant etc.
This thread is a bit about everything alarms now, but related to UK alarms:
I have a Scantronic/Cooper 9851 system (many to be found in the UK), somewhat dated but very, very stable, so I do not want to replace. I just finished an interface with HA using the 866 MHz remote (found back in a drawer, unused for 20 years). I can now ‘arm away’, ‘arm night’, ‘disarm’ (and ‘panic’) through HA.
The ultimate goal is to interface through the I2C bus (like alarm decoder), but I did not find the protocol anywhere yet. With a lot of time I could probably reverse engineer that … or move to a modern connected system.
I need to replace my alarm box with keypad as we are decorating and the one we have is 30 odd years old. Happy to keep the wired sensors but is a panel that connects to HA please? or just get a new one and look at Konnected?

Most likely but you may also be advised to fit series and EOL resistors to create the tamper circuit. They may already be there though but 30 years is a long way back.

I’ve started to look into how I can do this using my current wires, which is going to be a pain but fun… Can you have the main panel, remote to the comip and smartcom ? As I want to have them in the loft and keep the keypad and main panel near the front door (when are my current sensor wires terminate.)

COM-IP and SmartCom are local to the panel, you can mount the keypad/s remotely.
