Unable to pair Jasco ZW4101

I have an ADT system which came with a Jasco ZW4101 smart appliance plug and I’ve been trying to pair it with my Home Assistant running Z wave JS but have had no luck. I’ve obviously unpaired the plug and removed the node from the ADT network via the ADT pulse app. I’ve attempted multiple times to pair by pressing and lifting to of the button on the front, and any and all combinations of button presses, but no luck. Hoping that someone smarter than me will be able to help me figure this out. Thanks in advance.

Was this the Smartthings ADT hub? If so it used a proprietary frequency so many devices won’t work with other zwave controllers.

No, it’s just an ADT pulse system with an ADT gateway, not associated with SmartThings but it wouldn’t surprise me if ADT actually decided to make these device useless to anyone else.

Is this your device? If so it should work with zwavejs.

This may seem counterintuitive, but try doing an “exclude” first, then include the device. Sometimes it hasn’t forgotten the old hub, but doing an “exclude” with any zwave hub (even if it’s not the original one) will reset it

Go to the zwavejs control panel, then click “remove node”. Press the button on your device. Then try add node after.

I have tried that as well, but says “no device changes” both when I tried to exclude and include into the network.

Did you try to factory reset the device first?
I had some cheap Chinese devices that would only properly include after a factory reset.

I don’t know if this will work for you but I had trouble with one awhile back… there is a few other methods to try elsewhere in that thread also ZW-1401 Z-wave Switch/Plug Module - #2 by Bartem

Adding and excluding from the ADT app is very easy and only requires a push and release of the front button. But I’ll try these out later today and see what happens. Thanks

I would bring up the debug log in a second window while pairing and watch and that will give you a better idea of what is going on

Tried the inclusion methods in the thread you sent me while having the logs open. I don’t see any communication between the the Z Wave server and the plug even when server is in inclusions mode. Log says “controller status: non-secure inclusion started” then after 30 seconds it says “controller status: inclusion stopped.” I’ve also tried resetting the device by pressing the button for 1 minute. All to no avail.

Did you see this video? This is specifically for ones coming from ADT system, maybe it will be helpful. https://youtu.be/E4ftMoHNRjQ

Also I would try exclusion again first to make sure it was actually removed properly from the adt system … if you aren’t seeing anything in the log then it may still be attached to the old system

Yes, I removed the device from the ADT app and reset it like in the video. But still nothing

I’m not sure if you use zwavejs or Zwavejs2mqtt, but Zwavejs2mqtt allows you to change the 30 second time out and increase it, through the Zwavejs2mqtt control panel. Maybe 30 seconds isn’t long enough?

Maybe also try bringing the device right next to the controller. Normally this isn’t advised as you should “include in place” with zwave, but you can always do a heal node when the device is moved to the final location.

Turns out it was a network reach error since I was able to pair when I moved it closer to the controller. I have also added a few other z wave devices to the network which may have helped strengthen the signal as well.
