This is one of the things that drive me crazy. The instructions are clearly wrong. Item 6: 1. To define the wake word engine, under Wake word, select openwakeword.
- Then, select ok nabu.
- If you created a new assistant, select Create.
- If you edited an existing assistant, select Update.
- Result: You now have a voice assistant that listens to a wake word.
It implies there should be a selection box next to “text-to-speech” and there is none.
HA documentation in general is poor; I’m not just complaining but suggesting if it were a wiki where anybody could improve it, I would do that (and I’m sure many others would). It’s too difficult to try to change documentation.
