about the waveshare 1.85, there’s at least two versions, link for full working yaml already been posted the 26th of dec.

As this seems like the best thread with information on the device: Any idea if there is a new revision of the board, or did I just happen to receive a broken model. I have supposedly the V2, but can’t get the speaker or the mic to work at all. I’ve tried flashing the two projects above (home-assistant-esphome-esp32-s3-touch-lcd-185c and xiaozhi-esphome), but all I get is slight static through the speaker. Everything else works. No errors in esphome, except the voice assistant reporting silence when queried manually.

Stickers on the device are “V2” and “E-S-T-L 1.85C-Box”.

Edit:

Nevermind. I just reflashed the factory firmware and tried playing mp3 files, nothing but static…

Nope, nevermind the nevermind, got the proper factory firmware and audio is working.

The Rev 2.0 of the device has a completely different adc/dac config. No wonder nothing works based on previous examples. Also only found out through the Waveshare Chinese wiki pages (https://docs.waveshare.net/ESP32-S3-Touch-LCD-1.85C).

Hello,
was you able to configure V2 (with ES7210 for Mics) ? I got everything working, but not wake word (assistant can hear/answer if push to talk mode used).

Wake word issue was related to ESP Home 2026.3.3, all works on 2026.4.0

Hi, can you please share your config?

It works, but since ES8311 and ES7210 on same I2C bus speaker has slight delay to avoid poping sound each time it switches states. plus playing accent sounds from HA Voice preview adds latency, so, they referenced, but not used.
And I have not tested timer yet.

Impressive!

Great work - helped me a lot!

Best regards

Edit: Huh, by changing the mic to right it can now hear me. That's odd. But overall thanks for tha yaml!

Thanks @teason2024, I was struggling until I found this with the V2. All the YAML files I found would neither read the mic or cause the speaker to output. So you're saying this file should work as a voice assistant?

I ask because I can get my V2 to make noise but the wake word still doesn't respond. I've trued upping the logging verbosity to see if anything pops out but it just sits there deaf as a rock no matter how many times I say, "Okay Nabu." I just recieved this hardware two days ago and I'm at a bit of a loss on how to debug if it's a hardware or configuration issue.

AI did tell me there were some reports of MWW having issues in the latest ESPHome, hopefully that's all it is. Thanks.

here is what happened and why it can be confusing.

Waveshare's first model was the first version i got, they later started shipping it with a different display that required different display driver so i named that V2, and the first one V1.
Now this year they released a new version where they change things and they call it V2, so i renamed my yamls to V1.1, and V1.2 and added the new V2 here:

one of the things they changed was to use share i2s bus unlike the previous versions that used 2 busses. in esphome this means it cannot use mic and speaker same time so thats really a downgrade. it also means some clicking sounds when switching which i2s device to use. it's a shame they did that, but so do the majority of other displays sadly.

have you posted the modified firmware somewhere?

Looks like super work. Have you posted your code anywhere as yet?
