Sorry, Nick. fixed. So, I don’t think I should need to format before cloning? Or should I? I think my rational for using an SSD was more to do with speed and long term reliability. If I had known PLEX was available on Home Assistant, I might have chosen a bigger drive too. Still, besides the point I guess.
Given this set up and that you clearly have much more current knowledge of Linux than me, how would you go about cloning the MicroSD to the SSD in this set-up, while making the SSD bootable for Home Assistant once it has been cloned to this drive?
Sorry to be a huge pain in the but. Your responses are much welcomed.
I think I must be dumb or something nick, sorry. I’m still confused. You say I can install home assistant on the SSD remotely somehow, without requiring disassembly? I mean disassembly would be slightly tricky, as it’s a custom enclosure and I would have to strip this back, remove the ssd controller and power control board and everything to brass tacks just to get at the SSD. But you have clearly stated that this is unnecessary?
The question then is, how do I do a fresh install to the internal SSD? I had to format the MicroSD card that I’m currently using externally, to get Home Assistant up and running. I had to buy an adapter for my MacBook to do this. If there was a way to install Home Assistant directly to the SSD at the beginning, then I have obviously screwed up a little and should have done this from day one.
