Hi,
I have a Raspberry PI 4 with the latest bootloader and USB boot enabled, but when i “burn” the RPI4 image to an external SSD, it doesn’t boot. Is that the image i need? Or do i need another image for USB boot?

Currently, the stable releases don’t support USB boot. The only way afaik is to use a development (beta) release of version 5 of the OS install from here:
Check out this thread, it will answer all your questions and you can make sure you have the correct hardware -> Installing Home Assistant on a RPi 4b 8GB with SSD boot
